Meet with Pete Worden

This year’s Czech Space Week will welcome an exceptional and unexpected guest on its final day. Pete Worden, former Director of NASA Ames Research Center and retired US Air Force Brigadier General, who currently serves as Director of the Breakthrough Prize Foundation, will have a short visit to Prague.

We have prepared an exceptional opportunity to meet personally with one of the most important personalities of the global space industry for all subscribers of the Czech Space News newsletter. The first 30 will have the opportunity to attend an exclusive discussion with Pete Worden, which will take place at the IMPACT HUB in Prague, Drtinova 557/10, Prague 5 – Smíchov, this Friday, November 12th at 13.00.

Who is Pete Worden?

Pete Worden was born in 1949 in Michigan and was Director of NASA’s Ames Research Center in California until his retirement in March 2015. Prior to joining NASA, he held several positions in the United States Air Force and was also a research professor of astronomy at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

Worden is a recognized expert on space issues, both civilian and military. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 scientific papers in the fields of astrophysics, space science and strategic studies, and has served as scientific co-investigator on two NASA space science missions.

He received NASA’s Clementine Mission Excellence Award in 1994 and was named the Federal Laboratory Consortium’s top laboratory director in 2009.

In July 2015 at the Royal Society in London, Yuri Milner and Stephen Hawking presented the Breakthrough Initiatives and Pete Worden was appointed as Chairman of the Breakthrough Prize Foundation.
