Variable Star Research Conference

12. 11. - 14. 11. 2021, 9:30-17:00

The conference is a meeting traditionally organized by the Variable Stars and Exoplanets Section of the CAS. This year the Institute of Astronomy of the IMF UK in Prague will sponsor a student section in the Friday programme of the conference, which will be competitive and is intended for students of universities and high schools. The event is also co-organised by Planetum Prague.

The aim of the conference is to create links between professional and amateur astronomers working in the field of variable star and exoplanet research and to develop enthusiasm among future students of astronomy and astrophysics. Each year, mainly review lectures by professionals, research papers by astrophysics students on current topics in the field of variable stars are presented, and amateur astronomers are also given their place with valuable results of their observations, which often reach professional level.

Last but not least, the SPHE ČAS also tries to establish a number of international collaborations and the conference has thus taken on an important international character in recent years. The conference will also include several online international papers or discussion panels.

The papers presented at the conference will be published as proceedings in the Open European Journal on Variable Stars with indexing of the papers in SIMBAD and Smithsonian/NASA’s ADS database. Recordings of the presentations will also be traditionally posted on the SPHE ČAS YouTube channel and presentations will be available in the published conference programme.
