Petr Kapoun, the founder of the Brno-based space company TRL Space, said in an interview that his company might one day rewrite the textbooks on space. The fact that these are definitely not just empty words is evidenced by the countless projects of TRL Space Systems that cross the borders of our country. An example that speaks for itself is the TROLL satellite. This satellite, which will be sent into Earth orbit by a Czech company in mid-2024, will become the largest commercial satellite since the Czech Republic was founded.

The company, which according to a recent investment report has a value of €10 million, is able to cover the entire project cycle, from mission analysis to production to ensuring the launch of the satellite, thanks to its know-how and experience. Its customers include international organisations as well as space agencies and private companies.

The company’s first major project was the international LUGO mission and the production of a satellite for a commercial customer. It didn’t take long for other successful projects to follow. Worth mentioning is the development of a camera for hyperspectral imaging, LiDAR, a module for cyber security for satellites or a module for on-orbit data processing. In addition, the company is also focusing on the digitisation of agriculture using an AI data processing platform.
